Massage and Aromatherapy Frequently asked Questions

When can I have an appointment?

Nicolle is available for consultation & treatments at the following times :-

Tuesday 6pm - 9pm
Selected Fridays 9am - 5pm

by appointment only

What do I need to do before my treatment?

It is advisable to

-bathe before attending a treatment to ensure you can enjoy maximum absorption of the oils
-avoid alcohol for 12 hours beforehand
-avoid large meals immediately beforehand, but also ensure you
have something light to eat. It is inadviasble to have a massage
on a completely empty stomach.
-allow one hour after rigorous exercise, saunas or jacuzzis before
you have a treatment.

What about after my treatment?

I advise you to

-avoid sunbathing for 12 hours
-drink plenty of water ~ 3-5 pints a day for at least 3 days after
your massage as part of your treatment is advisable.
-avoid alcohol for at least 3 hours.
-avoid bathing or showering for at least 5, but preferably up to
12 hours after a massage to soak up the goodness of the oils
-allow time out to relax afterwards. Massage can make you feel
sleepy. Therefore avoid any long drives or operating machinery
after a treatment.

How long does a treatment take?

This depends on the treatment you choose & your needs. Most treatments are between 25mins & 1 1/4 hours. Feel free to discuss your needs with Nicolle so you can agree what suits you & your pocket.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on why you are coming for a massage. Some people like to have a massage regularly, say once a month, to manage ongoing issues, stress, accumulated tension or for damage limitation. Some people book in once every week or fortnight to deal with more chronic issues. Others only need a set number of
treatments to deal with acute health issues like sciatica or whiplash. Your body generally tells you when you need another treatment or when you feel a course of treatment has successfully dealt with your issue. Feel free to discuss this with Nicolle to agree a treatment plan to suit you.

What if i need to cancel my appointment?
24 hours is required for cancellations otherwise the full cost of the treatment will be charged...or 50% if you re-book and keep your appointment. If I do not answer my phone, don't worry, please leave a message, as I will pick it up up before I go to the clinic. In an emergency you can contact my mobile on 078999 44650 or the lovely staff at Country Store can pass a message on if you call 01209 215012.

What about confidentiality?

All your records are kept in strictest confidence in line with the Data Protection Act 1984.

What about ongoing support?

Sometimes to improve healing & success rates Nicolle may recommend you undertake a home support plan which may include:

-obtaining specific supplementation
-altering diets
-trying out exercises to ease issues or prevent issues occurring.
-prescribed balms, creams or oil blends to help ease issues.
-hot & cold home treatments like bathing, heat bags etc
-referring to another health professional if Nicolle feels you need additional support or if she feels other treatments may be more beneficial than massage or other treatments within her practice.

Do you do home visits?

Yes, if you find access to the clinic difficult I am happy to treat you in the comfort of your own home. I also visit local establishments e.g nursing homes, care homes etc & conduct treatments for people who would find a visit to my clinic problematic. There will of course be surcharges to cover fuel & time taken to get to you. Please feel free to contact me for a quote.
